About Me

Annie
My name is Annie. I’m a dorky teenager from Woodbridge, a medium-sized town near Toronto, Canada. No, I don’t go to school there. I go to school a long commute away.
I have the curiosity of a young child, causing me to be interested in a lot of things, including but definitely not excluding: Food, fitness, music, gardening, finding good deals, shopping, books, news, iPods, reality TV, primetime TV, politics, dance, running, and tennis…
As you may be able to tell by the picture, I’m Chinese. I was born in China. Despite my parents’ best efforts, I’m not that good at math. I’m much more of an English/Humanities-leaning student. My favorite book is Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger. I don’t know why. I guess because it has an interesting protagonist, ducks, and a prostitute named Sunny.
I write about politics every little while, if there’s something exciting going on. I am also the biggest news geek ever! I consider myself left-leaning, but I have tons of conservative friends and we talk about political and social issues all the time.
Now, my personality. Umm, I don’t know. I’ve been described by some people as shy and others as outspoken, but if you ask me, those two adjectives are rather contradictory. I guess I am the pessimist in a group of optimists and the optimist in a crowd of pessimists. I answer rhetorical questions, laugh when things aren’t funny and make sarcastic comments when they’re not needed. I smile when I feel like it and don’t when I don’t, and my biased self believes that the former occurs more often, or at least hopes so. In this world, happier people are more loved.
Speaking of hopes, my hopes of having a not-so-bleak future are yet to be realized. University is a while away but I hope to study law or journalism or business… Probably not the latter though because money confuses and frustrates me in innumerable ways.
You can learn a lot about me by reading my twitter updates. They include thoughts/opinions, rhetorical questions, and tidbits of my life too.
About Swashedbylife.com
I love to write, about anything and everything, so I created Swashedbylife.com, a blog, to do just that – to write. The word ’swashed’ means splashed, except I think the word swashed sounds cooler. All the time, we get swashed by what life brings us. Some are pleasant and some aren’t – and I like to write about them, how I react to them, how people in general react to them, and of course, how specific people react to them.
I write about everything. My life. Life in general. My opinions and ideas, on things that matter and things that don’t. Swashedbylife.com is basically a written glimpse at what is going on in my head.
And then, there’s just random stuff I might post up for the sake of it: Videos, stories, photos, etc.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy my blog.
